I don't think I've ever had a bad experience at Cracker Barrel, my favorite is the grilled catfish. And you can always get three sides with your meal and biscuits and or cornbread. I usually don't have to wait long to get my seat maybe 5 minutes
I went here with my boyfriend and the waiter was really nice. He even helped me make fun of my boyfriends dorky new glasses lol. No but really we had a wonderful time. I took the waiter recommendation on the steak special. I'm so glad he sold me on that, it was so good. There's so many things on the menu, and it's so affordable that me and my boyfriend decided to come here twice a month. I can't wait for our next visit. Though this time I might buy the oversized checker board in the gift store lol. I used to have one just like it.
The food was okay. It was a little cold and I could tell that it was frozen and not fresh. I can make it better. The portion size was small for the money. The first waitress we had was Jenna she was nice. We only saw her the first time and then every other waitress in the place brought the food. I was going to have to serve but Jenna decided to just give us the check without asking if we wanted it. The gift shop is nice however.
The food was good old comfort food. It came out piping hot and there was plenty that I took half home! I was there around noon and it was jammed, but we only had to wait like 10 minutes or so. I wish the store was bigger because it was hard to see everything with so many people trying to shop. The only little glitch was we went there to eat and shop because we had gift cards and, when we went to pay, we were told gift cards could not be used because something was down. So, we did not shop but just payed for our meal. I wish when we arrived and gave our name to the hostess she would have told us about the gift cards because we would have waited and came back another time.
The only reason this gets three stars is because the server was amazing. There food, however, was absolutely horrible. I love turnip greens, but the turnip greens so here tasted like dirty grass. I believe eating grass would've tasted better to be quite honest. It's as if they dumped a can of greens on a plate that came from a rusted, expired can. It was not pleasant at all. It said it was cooked in ham (according to the menu) but it was cooked with pot roast, not ham. But I couldn't even taste the flavor of any meat because the dirty, rusty flavor of the greens took over.
However sometimes it can take awhile longer depending on the crowds. The only recommendation I would have is to revise their menu at least every several years. It's been the same menu for as long as I can remember except I wouldn't change it the free refills on iced tea.
